Now in 2015, the nominees are Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A, the Smiths, Lou Reed and Sting. More bands like the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Kraftwerk, Chic, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Marvelettes, the Spinners, Stevie Ray Vaughan, War and Bill Withers hopefully will be added to the nominee list.
Voting goes on from now to December 9th; you can go on RollingStone.com and cast your votes. This is the third year that fans can go and vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. The top five bands will comprise a “fan’s ballot” and that will count as one of the ballots that choses the Class of 2015.
Now, you can’t just be entered into the nominee list. The band or artist had to release their fist single or album by 1989 or earlier to be eligible. Some of these nominees have been on the ballots before but for Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bill Withers and Sting this is their fist time.
Green Day’s first album came out in April of 1989; Nine Inch Nails first album came out the same year in October. Sting has entered the Rock Hall as a member of The Police and Lou Reed has been inducted as a member of the Velvet Underground.
The top vote-getters with be announced near the end of the year and inducted April 8th, 2015 at the ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.
These bands deserve to be the Rock Hall among many legends, and hopefully they get to enter the Rock Hall of Fame as Class of 2015.

If Lou Reed does not get in the RnRHOF then the RnRHOF is not about recognizing musicians that push RnR forward. Between his solo work and Velvet Underground he should have been in the 2nd or 3rd class of inductees.
