Music
is a whole new world for me; it's like an escape. Music is what feelings sound
like. My favorite part is when I have my own music video in my head when
listening to music. I grew up listening to a variety of music, and it really shapes
who I am. I’ve been around music all my life because my mom and grandmother love to
sing, and my cousin played the violin, piano, and keyboard.

Alexander
Rybak is a Belarusian-Norwegian singer, pianist, violinist, composer, actor,
and writer. Where I live if I ask someone if they know who Alexander Rybak is
they look at me like “Who is that?” Alexander is very talented but he isn’t
worldwide known like he deserves to be. Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision Song
Contest in 2009 in Moscow, Russia. Ever since then Alexander’s career has
really taken off. He won Eurovision with the song “Fairytales” which he wrote and composed. His song became number 1
in Norway and in Russia. In 2012
Alexander released a single titled "Leave
Me Alone" worldwide. One of his more recent releases is titled “What I Long For.” Alexander Rybaks
music is poetic and full of deep meaning. He
inspires people to the fullest and
his violin playing and composing is phenomenal. He is a brilliant masterpiece whose
music needs to be shared around the world.
“Believe in your talent, and let it
grow. If your dreams are to come true, you must first dare to dream.” –
Alexander Rybak
“You should always feel strong within
yourself”- Alexander Rybak

IHeartRadio is one of my favorite
radio stations to listen to. The music is always fun and modern. I love that
they play a mixture of genres of music. I like the contest that they have to
win tickets, trips, and prizes. I also appreciate how IHeartRadio keeps all their
listeners updated on the latest celebrity news and world evens as well.
IHeartRadio really makes you literally Heart the Radio.
Breaking the Language Barrier
I interviewed Manassa Patel a
sophomore here at Eastern. She loves listening to music from other countries. I
asked her the following questions?
-
K-Pop (Korean pop)
- What country/nationality listens to the music?Korea and All of Asia
- Who are some famous acts in this genre?Big Bang and EXO
- Why should people listen to this act, even if they are not familiar with the language?Because it’s a new experience and a pure genre
I
interview Josie C. from 107.5KZL Greensboro NC radio station. Josie has been
working at KZL for 13 years and she loves it. She’s
very enthusiastic and passionate
about what she does. I was fortunate enough to interview Josie. I asked her the
following questions.
- What inspired you to enter the music broadcasting industry?
- What education is recommended to work in radio and music broadcasting?A bachelor's degree isn't required, but it does help get the employer's attention on a resume. Radio is learned through experience rather than just classes, so an internship is a must.
- What is one of the most rewarding parts of the radio industry?Getting to listen to music all day! And the perks (free concert tickets, endorsements that get your free products!)
- What song would you keep in regular rotation and why?My favorites change all the time. The good thing about working at a Top 40 radio station is that the hits are always changing. Right now, I'm obsessed with Walk the Moon "Shut Up and Dance."
