Play My Song with DJ De'Aundré

My personal experience with music was when I was little and my brother had a DVD with all of the late and great Aaliyah's songs on it. As I was walking from my room into the living room I became enchanted by her soft voice and the story was telling in the song. The song that was playing was "4 Page Letter" ever since I heard that song I felt something I couldn't explain and it felt amazing. Every time I put my  headphones in it brings me back to that single moment I first her someone tell their story in a way that impacted me. It has been my life's mission to make someone experience what I have experience as a kid. I feel like music is just as powerful if not that even more powerful than the average person just talking.

My Personal Playlist:
1.) "Case Of The Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)" by Mya
I like this song because it asks what are you going to  do when your ex-girlfriend is wanting to take you back. I strikes intrigue in me because I wonder the same thing sometimes and I always come up with the same answer which is that I would dump her because I was always told to give my toys to the less fortunate.
2.) "Somebody" by Natalie La Rose
This song is so amazing because it somewhat resembles Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and that is my favorite Whitney Houston song of all time. Also Natalie La Rose is a really talented dancer so whenever her video comes on TV I stop everything I'm doing and watch her and only her.
3.)"Pon De Replay" by Rihanna
I like this song mainly because it has somewhat  of an island flavor to it. Also the beat makes you want to move your feet.
4.)"Ain't It Fun" by Paramore
I like thos song because it gives me an insight on what it's like to be on your own. It also scares me because I have to pay bills.
5.)"Collide" by Justine Skye ft Tyga
I like this song because of the way  her voice is so soft and sentual just like the song.
6.)"Lucky Ones" by Kerli
I absolutely love this song because of the techno vibe it gives off. Every time she vocalizes and the music over powers her voice sends a chill through my spine.
7.)"Ayo" by Chris Brown feat. Tyga
I love every Chris Brown song ever made that's why I love this song. Also why it gets to the rapping part sound good together.
8.)"Champion"by Ace Hood, Jasmine Sullivan, and Rick Ross
I like this song because it says regardless what anyone says you will come out on top. I think the video is powerful as well because the setting is in the ghetto and shows a very poverish area.
9.)"Dollar Signs" by Calvin Harris feat Tinashé
I like this song because it states that some people believe that love makes the world go 'round and that others believe that money makes the world go. It is also a fun song to listen to.
10.)"I Bet" by Ciara
I like this song because it's the ultimate after break-up song. It's basically saying that i bet you'll want me back if you see me with someone hotter than you.

I also interviewed a musician here at EGHS named Lauren K.
I asked her the following questions:
What made you want to be a musician?
Who inspires you to play music?
What instrument do you play?
What makes you want to play a song?
What instruments do you plan on learning?

Lauren answered:
When I hear a song and it makes me feel happy I want to spread that happiness.
Kurt Cobain and Led Zepplin.
Guitar.
When a person feels down I want to help them feel the opposite of that.
Keyboard.
An underrated musican would have to be Angel Haze. Mainly because she works with the biggest names in music like Sia, Nick Jonas, Timeflies etc. but she never gets any recognition. Angel Haze is a very talented rapper she doesn't rap about normal things you hear rappers talk about today. A good song to listen to by Angel Haze would have to be "Battle Cry" ft. Sia. Mainly because it is like an empowerment song when you feel like you can't go through the day.

I interviewed other EGHS student and also a teacher and asked them the following questions.

Streaming Music
Pandora:http://www.pandora.com/
5 reasons why I like Pandora
1.)It gives you an array of new artists
2.)When you put in a song it will play songs just like it.
3.)It gives you lyrics so that you can sing along.
4.)It gives you background info about the artist.
5.)If you forget how to spell a singer/band's name it shows up anyway

Some of our EGHS students don't listen to music in English. I interviewed Rhadika Timsine. I asked her the following questions:
What is the genre of music that you enjoy?
What country/nationality listens to this music?
Who are some famous acts in this genre?
Why should people listens to this act, even if they are not familiar with the language?

Her answers were:
Pop
All kinds
Selena Gomez and Taylor Swifts
Because a song doesn't have a language it has a feeling

The Carolina Theatre is located in downtown Greensboro and is a place where you can see plays and live performances of bands etc. The theatre welcomes over 9,000 people to their theatre on average which means they must have a good atmosphere where you can sit back relax and enjoy the show. An upcoming acts would be NUNSENSE A-MEN and it plays on Friday. If you're ever in the area you should check it out and tell me how it was.
