A Season to Remember

This past year the men's basketball team went 20-6 overall this season. Now that doesn't say 'much' but for those who have followed the team around for the past few years, you would know why this was such a remarkable season for the Cats. The year started out with a huge win over power house Page High School. The boys also had season sweeps over Northeast Guilford and Northern Guilford which hasn't been done in a long time. It was also the first time in a while that the Wildcats were able to win the EGHS Christmas Tournament , with wins over River Mill Academy, Graham High School, and Riverside High School who came in very highly ranked. That's not all! The Wildcats made it to the NCHSAA 3A playoffs this year to play in the first round against the team they lost to last year; Rocky Mount High School. Despite all of the snow days delaying the game, The Wildcats finally got to play. With the help of the home crowd and spectators the Wildcats were able to come away victoriously and finally earned their first playoff win for the program in EGHS history. The next task for the Wildcats was to go to Johnson County and play against the Rams of Cleveland High School. The Wildcats were unable to pull out the victory against the Rams, but what a season it was for these boys. A special thanks to the 8 Seniors who helped lead the team.
