Cyberbullying/Bullying
The seriousness of bullying and how
it affects teens and young people can be felt throughout many in our generation. It affects teens because it can cause them
to hurt themselves. It can also hurt their self confidence. It is connected to
them because they can feel like they are nothing in the world. It is also not
good because people usually think its funny when it’s not at all. Bullying is a
very serious issue among teens and will continue unless it’s stopped.
According to CNN Student News, as many
as 25% of teens experience bullying at some point in their lives. Online
bullying is a lot similar to bullying in person. They both affect the people's self esteem and
make people feel bad about themselves. Also, cyberbullying is known as the high
tech bullying by how it’s done. Also they say that in some cases cyberbullying
is a lot more serious then bullying in person. A popular hashtag on Instagram
that refers to bullying is #endbullying. Also they said the best way to end
cyberbullying is to end it with how it started like with the internet. They said that cyberbullying is a lot more serious than what most people think
it is.
Ms. Jones a science teacher at EGHS
said that kids who bully someone are being abused themselves. Arlette Carvajal a
freshmen at EGHS also a member of an outside soccer team says by bullying
someone you could hurt their self esteem and also make them hurt themselves or
in some cases others. Finally, Valerie Henry, a junior at EGHS, says that anyone
can cyberbully someone as long as they have a phone to do it through.
My thoughts on this matter are
bullying is wrong no matter what kind you do it’s wrong. It is wrong simply
because it can really hurt someone’s feelings or cause them harm emotionally or
physically. I also think anyone who does it deserves to be punished. A good way
to teach bullying is bad is by showing the bully how it feels to be bullied. To
me, bullying is just something kids do when there bored and want something to
do. I think if we all come together we can end bullying once and for all.
