This is No Party...

Let's Stop!

Hotline Number for Teens

Have you ever been offered a sip of alcohol even though you are under 21, or have you ever smoked something you know you shouldn't have? One sip or one smoke can be the start of a long journey of abuse, which can later cause mental damage, physical damage, and in some cases, death. As a teen you've probably had something illegal offered to you, I mean over a third of 12th graders have smoked Marijuana in 2014, and that's not the half of it. Alcohol is a concern too, over half of teens over the age of 15 have had "just one sip" of alcohol. Drugs and alcohol abuse is something no one should have to go through, and we should find a way to stop the abuse of it. In order to get some insight I asked ten people some questions.

I surveyed a few people on their thoughts on drugs and alcohol use in teens. The first person I interviewed was Rileigh Jensen, an active writer and artist. I asked Rileigh if she thinks that the age for alcohol age should be lowered, she believed that it should. "No, because the age 21 is an agreeable drinking age, and it can effect younger people and their bodies."  I also talked to Sydney Courts, Senior volleyball player. I asked Sydney if she thought that marijuana should be legal, she said it should for many reasons. "Yes, because it helps people overcome sickness." The next person I talked to was Hannah Whitesell, a Senior Softball player. I asked her if she thought that teens used drugs and alcohol as an escape or just to party, she said they do it for fun. "I think most teenagers do it for fun because it's considered "popular" and peer pressure is clearly evident." The next person I asked about the legalization of marijuana in other states, she said it should. "Yes, for medical reasons, but you shouldn't do it and drive." The last person I talked to was a teacher. I asked him about the age to drink alcohol and if it should be lowered, he responded with a yes. "I think if it was lowered there would be less of an urge to drink underage, if it was changed it would cause a shift that would cause less chaos." People feel differently about the use of drugs and alcohol in teens. How do you feel?

Studies have shown that inefficient sleep can cause drug and alcohol use in teens. Teens can start a life of addiction and abuse, all because of something as simple as sleep. According to Medicalnewstoday.com parents can help with this problem. Parents can monitor their child's sleep and make sure they get enough of it. If teens begin getting enough sleep, maybe they'll end drug and alcohol use. To read more you can click on the link below:

I can really connect with this subject... I feel that drugs and alcohol are very unnecessary. I really don't feel the need to poison your body and kill yourself slowly. I can also connect through the face I had a family member die recently in a suspected drug overdose... I hope that you can understand that you are not invincible, and you can die. I have made it a personal goal of mine to never do drugs or drink alcohol, but will you?
