"That was a close one", is what rescue workers and the public are saying after two window washers were dangling from the 104 story world trade center. The two window washers were identified as Juan Lizama and Juan Lopez; they were both doing a routine cleaning when something went wrong. It seems that while the two mean were cleaning that one of the cables of the hanging platform begin to develop a slack, which left it suspended in the air in an almost vertical position.
"I see two heads dangling over the scaffolding and one of the guys-- they just keep looking down", is what witness, Reginald Moye, told CNN news. Up to this point authorities don't know what could've caused the platform to slack, luckily the two men were wearing harnesses when the incident occurred. Yet it was no easy task having to get both men out of the hanging platform. Rescue workers had to use a diamond saw to cut through one of the nearest windows.
The reason being that this specific saw had to be used is because the rescue workers had to cut through three layers of glass panes which is almost two Inches. Both men were pulled safely from the hanging platform and into the World Trade Center building. No harm came to either men, except a slight hyperthermia; both were released from the hospital on the same night the incident happened on Wednesday November 12, 2014.
When Juan Lopez was interviewed, one of the window washers, he said "In the beginning it was panic". Yet he and Juan Lizama begin to remember their safety training. "We knew that everything and everybody was safe around us, beneath us. Once I saw the fire department and the New York police inside, it was just a matter of time". All in all both men were very happy to be safe; they including said that they will return to work, but preferably on a lower floor level.
