For the past week, news has been spreading that a student at Duke University has Ebola. The patients name hasn't been released, but it has been confirmed that the patient doesn't have Ebola.
From what its known, the patient had developed a fever of 101.9 after arriving to Durham hospital. This particular patient had traveled to Liberia and upon returning had the suspicion of having contracted Ebola, by the sign of the fever. When the patient was tested for possibly having the deadly virus; the test came out negative. Yet that didn't mean an all clear for doctors because as we all know, Ebola takes time to develop.
For that reason medical official, Lisa Pickett, decided to have the patient tested a second time to confirm if their was a possible threat for Ebola. Yet she was confident the patient didn't have Ebola because he/she didn't show any of the symptoms that come with Ebola.
That was a good sign, but it didn't keep doctors from keeping the patient in total isolation. Staff especially were being extremely careful when it came to removing protective gear because the case was supposed to be treated as if the patient actually had Ebola, but after the patient came out as a negative for Ebola the second time, everyone could rest assure that Duke University was Ebola Free. #factsnotfear
Thank Goodness I've been wondering about what happened. Great Story!!!
