You Will Know Her Name: Carrie Movie Review

What do you think of when you hear the word Prom? You probably think of one night where all of your hopes and dreams come true… Right? WRONG!
Carrie White, a 16 year-old girl sheltered by her very religious mother, isn’t the most social in school. She goes about her day sitting in the back of class and staring out windows. After being tormented in gym class, Carrie discovers that if she concentrates on something she can make it move. The girls who tormented Carrie were all punished to run laps for a week, and if they refused they were to be suspended and not be allowed at Prom. Sue one of the girls who tormented Carrie was feeling guilty, she had felt bad for what she had done and punished herself into not going to Prom, and her boyfriend, Tommy, would take Carrie. When Prom night comes Carrie is put in center stage and disaster happens. As a result Carrie starts a bloody violent rampage on her peers who have tortured her as long as she could remember.
The movie Carrie is based off a book by Stephen King, also the movie is the second remake of the classic version of Carrie made in 1976. Carrie overall is a great horror movie that deserves a Wildcat roar for three and a half stars out of five. This movie also has a great cast that includes Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Gabriella Wilde, and Ansel Elgort. I recommend that you watch Carrie as soon as possible because this movie is terrifying. Make sure you watch it with the lights off because that’s the best way to make sure you don’t sleep at night!

Taylor Swift Going POP!

"First documented, official pop album.." Taylor Swift has officially announced she's going pop. Her new single "Shake It Off" gives us a taste of what we're going to hear from Taylor. Lots of her country fans are disappointed and  many tabloids are being critical. Taylor says "People can say whatever they want about us at anytime...the only thing we can control is our reaction to that." Despite the negative comment, Taylor is keeping an open mind, and knowing she still has fans that'll make this change with her.#SakisCelebNews

The Rivals : EGHS vs. NEHS

WE DID IT!!!!After 17 hard losses from rival Northeast Guilford High football team, we finally beat them again for the second year in a row. Your Wildcats left Northeast first home game as victors with the score of 33-6. It took several hard runs from starting tail back #4 Zion Walker, and nice long touchdowns by #17 Jarius Morehead. He also connected two long balls to #1 Yeral Davis and only one for a touchdown, and to wrap it all up, two down hill touchdowns by #25 Kayin Paradise. The Wildcat's defense had many outstanding 3rd down stop and held the Rams to only one touchdown.

A Girl with a Dream

A girl with a dream!

Ever since I was a little girl, I had a passion for dance. I would blast my radio and dance in the mirror. My dream was to become a professional dancer, and to be in the big movies like "Step Up" and "Bring it On". I used to compete when I was younger. I imagined myself on the stage dancing my heart out. Dancing is like medicine to me, and dancing make me feel better in whatever mood I'm in, because music is my drug. My brother and I started competing in competitions when we was younger. I miss those days where everybody would stare at me while I danced. I enjoyed making routines that mean something, the way I feel. Everybody has someway they express themselves if it's through music, or poems, or a story.

A look into EG Women's Tennis

As the EG women's tennis team stepped on the courts , I noticed something: I noticed how much of a team they actually were. Coach Carter has done a magnificent job on prepping these 11 girls for their season. Even in their Monday loss to Northern Guilford, I still saw some things that I really liked about this team. The first thing was how disciplined they were. The girls stayed composed even in tough matches. It was also how unified they were. I saw each of the girls talking to each other in a positive way, being a team. Lastly, is their sportsmanship. Even though they didn't win their match against the Nighthawks, they were good sports about it . They did not hang their heads or get pouty on the sideline. Win or lose, the EG tennis team is #1 in the eyes of this Wildcat Family.

Lionel Messi

                                           Lionel  Messi

Who is Lionel Messi ? He is the greatest soccer player of this time period. He is 5'7 and weighs 150 pounds. He plays for FC Barcelona in Spain. He also plays for his home country's team Argentina.
He is the top scorer in the league and he also holds the record for youngest player to score 200 goals in the league. In the summer of 2014, he led his national team to the final of the FIFA World Cup 2014. Also in 2014, he became he became the player with the most hat tricks in the world, which would be 8. A hat trick is scoring 3 or more goals in 1 single game. That is very difficult to accomplish in the professional league. You can simply say that Messi is one of the greatest soccer players to come out of South America.

The Big, Brave, and Stupid White House Break In

The Big, Brave and Stupid White House Break In

Remember when your parents, teacher, a very smart friend; anyone in particular told you how safe the White House was? Did you ever think that once you've set foot on even the smallest part of the President's property you would be arrested on spot? I know I did, but that's all changed now. Forget that long speech about no one being able to touch the President. That's all changed, because now we have a White House fence jumper on our hands.
Omar Jose Gonzalez, a 42-year-old man from Texas, managed to jump the White House fence and was able to make it through the front door. He had 800 rounds of ammunition, 2 hatchets and a machete in hand.

That's not the only thing catching people's attention. It turns out that Omar is a decorated war vet. Check it: a decorated war veteran is someone who is very brave in combat and has many war medals. Omar served for more than  13 years and was discharged in 2003, but went back in until 2012, the year Omar retired.

At the time of the incident, Obama nor his family were there. For breaking and entering the White House, Gonzalez will appear in court on Monday October 1st, facing charges of unlawfully restricting building/grounds while carrying deadly weapon. Omar told police that he was "concerned that the atmosphere was collapsing" and had decided to go to the President "so he could get the word out to people."

This wasn't the perpetrator's 1st time trying to break in the White House—it's in fact his 3rd. In July and in late August, Omar attempted to get in the White House while having a map of the grounds. This had made the Secret Service (the agency behind the President's safety) bump up security. They also have left people asking themselves "where are the authorities when they were needed?"

Lost at Sea: The Messengers Letter

   Images wash across the waters
Of a bottled message that never made it's way to shore
The messenger is long gone
Gone away to win a war that has already fallen
He left a fire that was sparked long ago
Yet it seems he's forgotten
Who will tend to it?
Will it be blown away by the breath of the Omnipotent?
It's warmth...still so tangible to the touch
But only a mirage of what was and never will be again
Will the message be the same?
Will it just float away in the sea of the lost?
Or will it wash to shore to unbind the message it stowed away?
If so will it only feed the anguish of the forgotten
Or will it bring unending joy to the beloved
Bring cease to the war Messenger
Deliver the message you never conveyed
So that a sealed correspondence of an unopened door may be unveiled unto you

Leaving My Country

                                                              Leaving My Country

I left my country on January 8, 2013. I was in USA on January 10, 2013. I started to go to an American school on January 23,2013. When I went first to the American school, I was nervous and confused because of I saw people who were different from me.
I went to Doris Henderson  Newcomers' School. This is a great school that is very different, because that school is for those who come from different countries. They have to go to that school for one year. When I entered in the class, I felt poorer than any other because my language is different from others. I didn't have friends there. I was thinking about my country, my friends, my home, spending time with my friends; I was constantly really missing everything about my country at that time
I didn't know how to speak English when I was new in the USA. I was alone, but teachers helped me because I was new there. After some days, I spoke a little English. After a month, I felt better than before days. Day by day, I was talking to other guys. I made a friend there. They were from different countries and tried to speak with them.
My 1 year was up on the January 2014. I started to come in Eastern Guilford High School. When I came first time in this school I was pretty confused, because this school new for me. This school is bigger than that where I went before than came here. I didn't find classes in time, I was nervous because of didn't find classes easily. It was really hard to find classes for me. My friend helped me to find class. After one week, I was good because I can find classes easily. I continued to come this school. I am happy to study at an American school. I hope that other people can relate to my story.

Old School Music vs. Today's Rap/Hip-Hop Music

Old School Music vs. Today's Rap/Hip-Hop Music

Older music lyrics has more meaning in the words and has a story behind it. Today's music seems to be more about sex and drugs. However, Eminem is one person among today's musicians whose music has meaning and a story.  What do you prefer, old or new? I asked my brother what he liked more, music today or older hip-hop music, my brother said" I like older music because they have more meaning, a story, and you can understand the music. Nowadays, you can barely understand and have no meaning. "

Chris Brown and Rihanna : Together Again?

Chris Bown & Rihanna
Chris & Riri
Will They Get Back Together?

Some people think they should get back to together while others don't. I think they shouldn't get back together once again. Why do you think they shouldn't be together? Now let's see why other people think they should be a couple again. Here are some reasons they "should" be a couple.

According to Hollywoodlife.com, this is why they should be a couple...

Reasons #1. They are both famous.
It's hard to date someone who doesn't understand your lifestyle. Both Chris and Rihanna understand the music industry and busy schedule that it entails.

Reason #2. He always loved her.
Hollwoodlife.com learned EXCLUSIVELY they even though Chris moved on with Karrueche Tran, 26, the song "Loyal" singer, he's always loved Riri. Besides Rihanna, he really hasn't connected with a woman that he truly, 100% trusted," our source dished.

Reason #3. They make beautiful music together.
Everybody remembers "Birthday Cake" and "Bad Girl," right? if Chris and Rihanna reunited, then they would continue to crate epic music together and would win music awards.

Reason #4. They don't have to try to live up to each other's fame.
Let's face it: Chris and Rihanna are both superstars in the music business. With them together, there would never competition or pressure between them. They are both renowned for their music, but they their own dedicated following.

For these reasons people think they should be a couple again. Some reasons are good some are not. If you ask me, some things need stay the way they are. Chris hit Rihanna in the past, and you don't know if he might do it again. You never know. But if they do get back together, then good luck to both of them.

DJ Deaundre's #TBT Five Picks of the Week

DJ De'Aundré's Top 5 TBT Edition
1."One In A Million" by Aaliyah
"Your love is a one in a million it goes on and on and on you give me a really good feelin' all day long." That is how this song makes me feel every time I listen to is my it. Aaliyah is my favorite singer personally and I barely choose favorites. This song is mostly about telling your boyfriend or girlfriend how much you mean to them and that their love is only one in a million. If only Aaliyah were alive today she would continue to speak to us with her music and she's in our deepest prayers. #R.I.P
2."No Scrubs" by TLC
"I don't want no scrubs. A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me hangin' out the passenger side of his best friend's ride tryin' to holla at me." When I hear this song I have no choice but to sing along to it because it shows that women don't have to settle for less when it comes to finding a man/lover. T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli really give off that female empowerment vibe and they tell real messages in their music that we should apply to our everyday lives.

3."The Boy Is Mine" by Brandy and Monica
"You need to give it up had about enough it's not hard to see the boy is mine. I'm sorry that you seemed to be confused he belongs to me the boy is mine." First off Brandy and Monica are the best thing since Destiny's Child. These two amazing singers work so well together that they should work together permanently. This song was originally written about a typical love triangle on Jerry Springer and it made me think that no woman should have to fight for a man that is unfaithful because it's stupid and it makes you look desperate and that is never a good look for a woman.

4."We Are The World" by Michael Jackson/25 for Haiti

"We are the world. We are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day so lets start giving." I sat down with my mom to discuss which version of the song was better, the original which was for starving citizens in Africa or the remake which was for the earthquake in Haiti she ended up winning but we came to a mutual agreement. I kind of like the original version with all those old singers that I didn't know because it was when it first came out and there was a lot of emotion so to speak. But I love the remake because it had not only people i knew but it had the same amount of emotion which let me know that no matter how old a song is it still has the same affect on someone. It also had a rap in it that basically said says we're all in this together and that we're all connected and we all need to come together for this cause.

5."Heaven Sent" by Keyshia Cole
"I wanna be the one who you believe in your heart is sent from." This song speaks to me romantically because it says that if you meet the right person for you you'll think that they are. Keyshia Cole did an excellent job with this song I mostly Like the intro with the guitar and throughout the song, you hear a violin and it makes it seem more emotional.
