What would you do if you had to choose between staying
with your true love, or going with your family. Mia is in her senior year of
high school, her life is just beginning. Her passion for the cello has landed
her an audition for Julliard, a school nearly 3,000 miles away from her home in
Portland, Oregon. Mia has also found the one she loves, Adam, who is the lead
singer of a band that is just kick starting their career. Mia’s life is going
great, and in one moment, it’s completely changed.
“Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes
choices make you.” Mia quickly realizes this when she is put in a coma after
she and her family is in a horrendous car accident. After the accident she
begins to live like a ghost outside her body. Mia then begins looking back on
her life; deciding on whether to stay or go…
If I Stay is a movie about music, loss, and love. It
is based on the novel by Gayle Foreman, and over all the movie is a great
rendition of the book. If I Stay also includes a surplus of amazing songs on its
soundtrack. Whether the song was written for Adam’s band to perform or to just
play in the background to help set a mood, music is what brings this movie
together. Music is also what brings Mia and Adam together, but it’s also what
tears them apart.
When you go see If I Stay remember to buy popcorn and bring some tissues because by the end you’ll be in tears. Overall this movie deserves a wildcat roar for a four and a half stars out of five. I highly recommend that you see this movie as soon as possible because this is an instant classic that will have you begging on your knees for more. Next time you are at the movies remember, If I Stay.
